Our SpaGirl in the field Angel made a date with Elements Therapeutic Massage. Here's her report.
As a belated Mother's Day gift, I treated my mom to a 50-minute massage at Elements. I booked us each a Swedish massage and was offered hot stones for an additional $10.
A reminder e-mail was sent a few days before and included instructions to arrive early for paperwork. When we arrived, we were greeted by name and promptly given the forms. The decor at Elements is simple; dark woods and earthy tones set the mood. While waiting for our therapists, we were again offered hot stones and the chance to have our massages in the couples room (completely unnecessary since this was my mother).
The therapy room was dimly lit and a tad on the warm side. A chocolate was thoughtfully placed on the pillow. I seem to remember the website saying that you could choose an aromatherapy scent for your session, but nobody asked what scent I wanted. No matter, the faint sandalwood scent was very pleasant and relaxing.
She worked on my knots and was mindful of how much pressure I could take. I think my massage was a full hour, a welcome bonus. When it was over I was thoroughly relaxed and bummed that although it ran over, my session was over. The therapist greeted me with an icy bottle of water when I emerged from the dim room. I found myself a bit jealous as my mother still had not come out. When she did, she looked dizzy and giddy and actually hugged her therapist! I guess she enjoyed her session as much as I did!
My only gripe with Elements is that they seem to be big upsellers. I was asked repeatedly if I wanted to upgrade our massages and join their massage club. Now, donýt get me wrong; the massage club is a great deal, offering monthly sessions for only $49, but I was there to relax, not to be haggled. In all, my experience with Elements was great and my mom thinks I am the best daughter in the world!
